The illness in vogue now is the COVID-19 virus. I remember when it first hit Nigeria, it started from the rich elite. You know… Those who could travel out and were rich enough to import this novel virus.
I remember my outrage when I heard that Atiku’s son came back from his trip and did not bother to observe the 14-day isolation rule. And willingly, went clubbing and gallivanting recklessly –putting his family, and those around him at risk.
Even in the estate where I live, I remember the morbid fear and deeper outrage I felt when I heard that the NCDC came to bundle up a big man. A rich man who had been showing symptoms of the virus, yet hidden by his family for God-knows-what-reasons.
I’m outraged at these people for deliberately putting the lives of countless others at great risks with their reckless decision. And they are not the only ones.
However, having coughed a few times these past few days, and continually sneezing throughout today, I’m beginning to ask myself. Do I know the signs and symptoms of the COVID-19? Am I displaying any signs or symptoms, or am I Hypochondriac?
And this is helping me realize what state of mind those men might have been. It doesn’t exonerate them, only gives perspective. So, what are the signs and symptoms of the virus? When should you go for testing, and how do you prevent from infecting others around you?
The symptoms of the virus include;
*feeling of weakness
Serious symptoms are;
*difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
*chest pain or pressure
*loss of speech or movement
Thankfully, I don’t have any of these symptoms. If you do, even if it’s two out of these, abeg, contact the NCDC careline: 080097000010.
In case they do not respond in time, inhale hot steam water, Protect your family and loved ones: Self-Isolate in a sperate room at home.
